Thanks to all who responded to our call for Ausgrid meter data. It’s wonderful to have your support.
These interval meter reads have now been anonymised and handed on to a prospective Electrical Retailer, who has offered to help us develop a model for the battery operation. This type of modelling is complex in respect of optimising supply and demand, and interaction with the electricity grid.
Whilst a small sample, the meter reads will allow the extrapolation to the larger area of the amount of solar export power available for aggregation under our scheme. Importantly also, by having a full year of data for each meter point, we are able make determination about the seasonal variation in available exports.
Ultimately, the modelling will help us maximise the benefits to community subscribers, as well as giving us a financial basis for the battery operation.
Image attached taken from AEMO – Australian Energy Market Operator, showing a data snapshot of the national “Renewables Penetration” on 16 Oct 2023. This was a record level of renewables penetration of the energy market. Note the dominance of Distributed Solar on that day. We hope to tap into this abundant source of power for sharing, and storage in the battery.
