Our Group Meets with Senior Council Staff – 19 Oct 2023

Updated: May 26

A delegation group of 5 committee members were recently given an opportunity to sit down with senior management representatives from Central Coast Council.

As a result of our earlier campaign about the use of the Kincumber Landfill site, the Council team came into the meeting with an awareness of our project. In the week prior, Council Administrator Rik Hart had been presented with our representations by Dr Reid on Oct 10.

Council staff present at our meeting expressed enthusiasm for our project at the conceptual level, tempered by the need for proper process, and deeper understanding of how our scheme would work.

Council are in the process of a strategic review about the future use of the Kincumber Landfill site. As a result of our meeting, they now have a clearer picture of the potential space requirements for our battery installation.

From the point of view of probity, Council have undertaken to engage in further discussion with our group to better understand the key relationships involved, including those with Electrical Retailer, Ausgrid, LMS gas producers, scheme subscribers, and our community group.

A key element of what we are seeking from Council is a Partnership that would aid our ability to seek grant funding from the likes of ARENA – Australian Renewable Energy Agency.

We will continue to engage with Council to work through the issues.

Our scheme is still under development but by registering your interest we can keep you informed.
